Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate soiled surgical instruments and equipment using automated washers and ultrasonic cleaners following strict infection control protocols
- Inspect cleaned instruments for any残留 debris, rust, or damage, and report any issues to the supervisor immediately
- Prepare and assemble instrument sets according to standardised count sheets, ensuring all required items are present
- Package individual instruments and full sets using appropriate wrapping materials or rigid containers for sterilisation
- Operate steam autoclaves and other sterilisation equipment, monitoring cycle parameters and recording results accurately
- Store sterile devices in designated areas, ensuring that packages remain intact and expiry dates are valid
- Distribute sterile supplies to operating theatres and procedural rooms on a scheduled basis and for emergency requests
Qualifications
A National ITE Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field is required. No prior healthcare experience is necessary as full training will be provided. You must be able to perform three rotating shifts: morning shift from 8 AM to 4.35 PM, afternoon shift from 1 PM to 9.35 PM, and night shift from 9 PM to 7.30 AM. This includes weekends and public holidays. Physical fitness is essential because you will stand for long periods, lift instrument trays weighing up to ten kilograms, and push heavy carts. You need to be detail oriented, methodical, and comfortable working in a warm environment due to the sterilisation equipment.
