Maintenance Technician Required In Singapore

A well established seafood wholesaler in Jurong is looking for a hands on Maintenance Technician to keep their facilities and light equipment running reliably. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, from servicing air conditioners and inspecting electrical systems to coordinating pest control and helping with minor repairs on trucks and forklifts. You will work a stable five and a half day week, with Monday to Friday from 7.30 AM to 4.30 PM and Saturday mornings until 11.30 AM. If you hold a Higher Nitec or Nitec in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and have at least two years of relevant experience, this permanent position offers overtime pay, an annual wage supplement, and a performance bonus. You will not be stuck behind a desk; you will be moving between the cold storage areas, the loading bay, and the facility grounds, ensuring everything works as it should. The company handles fresh and frozen seafood, so your ability to troubleshoot quickly and coordinate with external contractors will directly impact daily operations.

Company Overview

The employer is a wholesale seafood distributor based in Jurong, Singapore. They supply a range of fresh and frozen seafood products to restaurants, hotels, and retailers across the island. The company operates a cold storage facility, a processing area, and a small fleet of delivery trucks and forklifts. They value reliability, safety, and proactive maintenance. The team is relatively small, so your contributions will be noticed and appreciated. The management supports continuous improvement and will trust you to carry out daily checks and scheduled preventive maintenance without micromanagement. Experience with ammonia handling is a plus because the facility uses ammonia based refrigeration, but it is not a strict requirement. This is a permanent role with a clear path to stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance for facilities including aircon servicing, electrical inspections, minor repairs on trucks and forklifts, and pest control coordination
  2. Perform routine daily maintenance tasks such as checking lighting, plumbing, refrigeration unit pressures, and general building integrity
  3. Conduct basic troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical systems, identifying faults and determining whether to repair in house or call a specialist
  4. Assist with minor M and E installations, such as mounting new equipment or replacing worn components
  5. Coordinate and communicate with external contractors, technicians, and engineers when specialised repairs or annual certifications are needed
  6. Keep maintenance logs and report any recurring issues to management for long term resolution
  7. Undertake any other tasks or duties assigned by management, including emergency call outs when required

Qualifications

A Higher Nitec or Nitec in any engineering related discipline, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, is required. You need at least two years of relevant work experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a mechanical or electrical field. Experience with ammonia handling will be an added advantage because the facility uses ammonia for refrigeration. You must be physically fit for standing, climbing ladders, and lifting up to fifteen kilograms. A basic understanding of air conditioning systems, electrical distribution, and light vehicle maintenance is expected. Good communication skills in English are necessary for coordinating with external contractors. Singaporean citizens, permanent residents, and valid work pass holders are welcome to apply. A class 3 driving licence is a plus but not mandatory.

Benefits and Perks

This full time permanent position offers a monthly salary between SGD 2,500 and SGD 3,200 depending on experience. Overtime pay is available for extra hours beyond the 5.5 day schedule. You receive an annual wage supplement, often called the thirteenth month bonus, plus a performance bonus based on company results and your individual contribution. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30 AM to 4.30 PM and Saturday from 7.30 AM to 11.30 AM, giving you Saturday afternoons and all of Sunday off. The company provides training on ammonia safety if needed. You will gain valuable experience in a cold chain environment, which is a specialised skill set in Singapore’s logistics industry.
