Key Responsibilities
- Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment to determine the root cause of malfunctions
- Perform repairs including replacing worn or damaged parts, adjusting systems, and making necessary modifications to restore vehicles to proper working order
- Work on various systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems of commercial transport trucks and trailers
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and lubrication to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle life
- Estimate parts and labour costs to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, communicating clearly with supervisors and customers
- Inspect mechanical units thoroughly to locate faults and malfunctions, confirming findings with supervisors to determine whether to repair or replace components
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring every vehicle meets safety and performance standards before returning to service
Qualifications
A minimum of two years of working experience as a truck mechanic or heavy duty mechanic is required. Candidates must be at least a high school graduate. Preferably, you have General Training IELTS equivalent to CLB 5 to demonstrate English proficiency, though this is preferred not mandatory. No formal degree is required, but a certificate or diploma in heavy duty mechanics or truck and transport mechanics is an advantage. You must be physically fit for lifting heavy parts, bending, and standing for long periods. Good communication skills in English are essential for reading technical manuals and coordinating with team members.
