Company Overview
The employer is a well regarded cleaning service provider operating in the Bundaberg region. They serve a range of commercial clients including offices, retail spaces, medical centres, and community facilities. The company values employees who take ownership of their work, maintain cleaning equipment properly, and ensure supplies are always restocked. They are known for their commitment to quality and reliability. The work culture is supportive, but you will often work alone, so self motivation and a strong work ethic are critical. This is not a large franchise with rigid micromanagement; it is a local operation where your efforts are noticed and appreciated. The employer provides training on site specific requirements, but you are expected to already know the basics of commercial cleaning.
Key Responsibilities
- Vacuum carpets and hard floors, mop and dry hard surfaces, and dust all areas including desks, shelves, and ledges to remove dust and debris
- Empty all waste bins and replace liners, disposing of rubbish in designated external bins and recycling where required
- Clean and sanitise kitchens including sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators, removing any food residue or spills
- Clean and sanitise bathrooms including toilets, urinals, basins, mirrors, and floors, restocking soap and paper products
- Wipe down surfaces and high touch points such as door handles, light switches, and handrails to reduce germ transmission
- Maintain cleaning equipment by rinsing mop heads, emptying vacuum cleaners, and reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor
- Ensure cleaning supplies are restocked before each shift, informing the supervisor when orders need to be placed
Qualifications
Previous experience in commercial cleaning is essential; residential cleaning alone may not be sufficient. A current National Police Clearance is mandatory because you may work in sensitive sites such as medical or government buildings. Reliable transport to and from work is essential because the role involves travelling between multiple sites in Bundaberg. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently without constant supervision are required. Good communication skills and a professional attitude are necessary for liaising with site contacts and the cleaning supervisor. Physical fitness is required for standing, bending, lifting cleaning supplies up to ten kilograms, and walking between sites. Australian working rights are mandatory. No formal degree is required; a high school diploma is sufficient.
Benefits and Perks
This casual position pays AUD 36.19 per hour, which is above the award rate for commercial cleaners in Queensland. Based on a typical week of twenty to thirty hours, your weekly earnings would range from AUD 720 to AUD 1,080, and monthly earnings from approximately AUD 2,900 to AUD 4,300. Hours may vary depending on client needs. You will receive training on any specific equipment or site protocols. The role offers the satisfaction of seeing immediate results from your work. You will have the flexibility of a casual schedule, allowing you to balance other commitments. Uniform and basic cleaning supplies are typically provided, though you should confirm with the employer.
