Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional engine lathes to turn, bore, thread, and shape metal workpieces according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences
- Select and mount appropriate cutting tools, calculate speeds and feeds, and adjust machine controls to achieve precise cuts
- Measure finished components using micrometers, callipers, and gauges, verifying that each part meets required tolerances
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on lathe equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments, and report any mechanical issues
- Identify and correct machining problems such as tool wear, chatter, or surface finish irregularities, making real‑time adjustments as needed
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, following 5S housekeeping standards and all company safety protocols
Qualifications
A high school diploma or vocational certificate in machining is required. You need at least one year of hands‑on experience operating engine lathes or similar conventional machining equipment. Basic English communication skills are necessary, and a willingness to learn fundamental Japanese language is expected. Physical fitness is essential for standing, lifting materials up to fifteen kilograms, and performing repetitive motions.
