Company Overview
The employer is a boutique accommodation provider operating in Trinity Beach, part of the Cairns region in Far North Queensland. They manage a collection of 4.5 star apartments that attract leisure travellers from Australia and around the world. The property values attention to detail, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to guest comfort. The current housekeeping team is described as happy and friendly, working well together. The employer is looking for someone who can fit into that positive culture while also taking on the responsibilities of scheduling and inventory management. This is not a large hotel chain; it is a smaller operation where your contributions will be visible and appreciated every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly schedules and assign daily housekeeping duties to team members, ensuring all apartments are covered efficiently
- Perform all aspects of housekeeping tasks to a high standard, including changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitising kitchen areas
- Order and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities, keeping stock levels adequate without over ordering
- Inspect completed apartments to ensure they meet the property’s 4.5 star cleanliness and presentation standards before guests arrive
- Train new housekeeping staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and the property’s specific quality expectations
- Respond promptly to guest requests for extra towels, toiletries, or cleaning during their stay, maintaining a courteous and helpful attitude
- Report any maintenance issues or damage observed in apartments to the property manager immediately
- Work a seven day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, with shifts typically during daytime hours
Qualifications
You must live locally to Trinity Beach or be willing to relocate close to the area because the role requires reliable attendance on a rotating roster. A minimum of two years of housekeeping experience is preferred, ideally in a hotel, resort, or serviced apartment setting. Experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity is highly valued. You must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work efficiently without constant supervision. A valid driver’s licence and your own transport are essential, as public transport options in Trinity Beach are limited. You need to be physically fit for standing, bending, lifting linens, and pushing housekeeping trolleys. Good communication skills in English are necessary for coordinating with the team and interacting with guests. Australian working rights are required. A National Police Clearance may be requested.
Benefits and Perks
This casual position pays from AUD 32 per hour, which is above the award rate for housekeeping roles in Queensland. With the casual loading already included, your effective hourly rate is competitive for the region. Based on a typical roster of twenty five to thirty five hours per week, your weekly earnings would range from AUD 800 to AUD 1,120, and monthly earnings from approximately AUD 3,200 to AUD 4,480. You will work in a beautiful coastal location with a friendly and supportive team. Uniform and basic cleaning equipment are provided. The role offers the satisfaction of working in a small, high quality property where your efforts are directly visible to guests.
