Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate a dual robot gantry welding system with tandem arc capabilities to fabricate structural steel components for major infrastructure projects.
  2. Follow programmed instructions from Robotic Welding Programmers to ensure consistent, high quality welds on every component.
  3. Perform setup, calibration, and maintenance of robotic welding bays before and after each shift.
  4. Conform to weld procedures and AS1554 welding standards, ensuring all work meets industry requirements.
  5. Maintain communication with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any issues promptly.
  6. Uphold workplace safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment at all times.
  7. Complete an extensive training period on day shift, working side by side with the lead robotic operator before transitioning to afternoon shift as the sole operator.

What You Need to Qualify

Extensive experience in welding whether manual or robotic or structural steel fabrication is required. You must be mechanically minded with an aptitude for troubleshooting. Basic computer skills are needed to navigate robotic interfaces, though full training is provided. High attention to detail with a commitment to quality is essential. You need to be a strong communicator and team player. Physical capability to handle structural components and stand for long periods is necessary. Bonus points for experience with robotic or automated welding systems, familiarity with tandem arc or multi wire welding, or knowledge of AS1554 and steel fabrication industry standards. No degree is required. A valid driver’s license is preferred for commuting to Corio.
