Key Responsibilities
- Operate machinery in the Furnace, Cutting, or DGU departments, ensuring efficient production of high quality glass products.
- Monitor production processes, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards and output targets.
- Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Handle glass sheets safely, following all manual handling procedures to prevent injury or breakage.
- Work as part of a team on the PM shift from 2.30pm to 11pm, collaborating to meet daily production goals.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, wearing provided PPE and reporting hazards immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, contributing to a safe and efficient production environment.
What You Need to Qualify
Manufacturing or machine operating experience is required, with glass experience being a big advantage. Candidates with experience in Edgework, LSG, Furnace, or DGU will be at the front of the line. You must have a strong work ethic and the ability to show up consistently and pull your weight. Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills are essential. Health and safety must be a priority for you, not just a box to tick. Physical fitness is required for standing, lifting, and working in a production environment. You must be reliable, organised, and switched on. Willingness to learn and back yourself to improve is important. You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and already living here as no visa or sponsorship applications are accepted. Pre employment and random drug testing applies as safety comes first.
Salary and Benefits
The hourly rate for this Glass Processing Operator position ranges from 25 to 30 New Zealand dollars per hour based on experience, which aligns with current market rates for manufacturing operators in Christchurch. This is a permanent full time role with guaranteed 40 hours every week. The PM shift from 2.30pm to 11pm includes an afternoon shift allowance on top of the base rate.
