Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on plant equipment and facility utilities including bioreactors, centrifuges, HVAC, autoclaves, and CIP or SIP systems to prevent breakdowns
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment issues by analysing operations and using appropriate testing instruments to ensure minimal downtime
- Carry out all tasks in strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, safety protocols including OSHA and lockout tagout, and internal Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and calibration reports through a Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Support engineering teams with the installation, testing, and qualification of new equipment including IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols
- Participate in root cause analysis, deviation investigations, and CAPA activities related to equipment failures
- Work closely with cross functional teams including Production, Quality, and Engineering, and manage external vendors during maintenance activities
Qualifications
A Diploma or Nitec in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical education is required. You need experience in maintenance within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or FDA regulated environment. Knowledge of utility systems such as chilled water, compressed air, and reverse osmosis water is essential. Familiarity with production equipment including pumps, homogenizers, and filters is expected. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams is necessary. You must be physically fit for lifting, bending, and standing during maintenance tasks. A strong commitment to safety and quality documentation is non negotiable.
